Beautiful late 1930s lingerie set made from lustrous pearl blue silk satin with champagne Alençon floral lace. The set includes a full length nightgown and its original matching bed jacket.
The nightgown has a softly gathered crossover bodice with a deep V neckline. Fine gathering through the bust creates a beautiful drape, while a wide fitted waist panel is decorated with champagne Alençon floral lace. Matching lace also trims the shoulders.
The back mirrors the front with a deep crossover V neckline and softly gathered silk through the bodice. The wide fitted waist gives shape before the skirt falls in gentle gathers to the floor.
The matching bed jacket is cropped to sit neatly over the waist of the gown. It has an open front, softly gathered shoulders and short puff sleeves. Champagne Alençon floral lace trims the neckline, front edges, sleeve cuffs and hem, with further lace detail at the back neckline.
The combination of pearl blue silk satin, champagne lace and the elegant floor length silhouette is characteristic of luxurious late 1930s lingerie. Complete sets with their original matching bed jackets particularly in this color way are increasingly difficult to find.
