Late 1930s dressing gown cut from fluid dusty pink rayon satin with a cool mauve undertone. The liquid satin has a beautiful reflective finish and falls smoothly through the full length skirt.
The fitted bodice features raised floral trapunto quilting across the front. A softly pointed collar frames the neckline, while short puff sleeves add fullness through the shoulders.
A full length metal zip runs from the neckline to the lower skirt, allowing the gown to open completely through the front. The waist is shaped with a wide satin panel and finished with long ties at the back, allowing the fit to be drawn in and adjusted.
Gentle gathering beneath the bust creates softness through the bodice before meeting the defined natural waist. From there, the skirt falls into a long, lightly flared silhouette with a fluid drape and subtle movement.
Dating to approximately 1938–1940, this 1930s satin dressing gown reflects the softly structured evening and loungewear silhouettes of the period. The puff sleeves, fitted waist, floor length skirt and decorative trapunto work are characteristic of late 1930s design.
The colour is best described as dusty pink, although the satin develops a cooler mauve cast where it catches the light. It can be worn as a traditional dressing gown, or as an evening dress.
